Powering Through My Day The #HealthWarriorWay

For a good long time, I was never one to jump on the whole "health bar" craze. I thought protein bars were a waste of calories, and that anything I can eat within 2 minutes surely wouldn't satisfy my hunger or cravings. It wasn't until I had a conversation with a friend-of-a-friend at a party, who just so happened to be a nutritionist, did I realize that my macronutrients were all over the place.

I was sitting there with a plate of food that included a slice of cake, 3 baby carrots, a spoonful of hummus, and a handful of tortilla chips. "Balanced meal, ammirite?" I joked. She politely laughed back at me before following up with "Yea, but not the right kind of balance." Over the course of the night we delved deeper into her career as a nutritionist and the easy mistakes she saw her new clients make on a daily basis, and what we as a society thought to be “correct” eating habits.

It was then that I learned the little "health bars" that I refused for so long were actually very beneficial to incorporate into my diet. She recommended Health Warrior, and I immediately added them to my shopping list.

With just 100-110 calories, more omega-3's than salmon, more protein than an egg, and more calcium that 1% milk, Health Warrior Chia Bars quickly became a favorite of mine. They might be small in size, but these mighty little babes are packed with flavor and will keep you well and full for quite some time. After all, chia has long been worshiped as the ultimate superfood of our time. In fact, Aztec warriors (hence the name) used Chia to fuel their bodies and keep them moving during battles. And if you ask me, that's prettttttay dope.

So when I was approached by Health Warrior to give a few of their other flavors a try and potentially write about my love for them, I knew I had to jump on the opportunity given my connection to them. They single-handedly changed the way I thought about "health bars" and how beneficial they can be in your daily diet. My favorite flavor at the moment is chocolate peanut butter, with dark chocolate and coconut coming in at close seconds. Chocolate peanut butter is packed with only 5g of sugar, along with fiber, protein, and omega-3's. It legit taste like a candy bar, yet I'm still getting in all of my necessary nutrition to keep my body at its most optimum performance. If you're a fan of chocolate and peanut butter -- this flavor is for you.

Lately I've been starting each morning with a Health Warrior bar, since they fuel your body with awesome pre-day goodies. I find it gets my energy up, I feel more focused, and I'm ready to tackle whatever the day throws at me. It's like healthy brain food. And I'm all about healthy brain food.

I keep one in my purse, in my pocket, in my boyfriends car -- you name it. They are great to snack on during the day or perfect as a guilt-free dessert after dinner. I love them, and I sort of never want to be without them.

And guess what? Health Warrior gave me a special 30% discount code to share with you, so you can get your daily dose of health bar like me. Just go to their website and use the code officialmelrose30.
