Food and the City: 5 OF THE BEST MARGARITAS IN NYC Yum

July 23, 2015

Tomorrow is National Tequila Day, and if it's one thing to know about me, it's that I take my margaritas very seriously. I'm a bit of a margarita snob in the sense that I will usually, no - always order the margarita if it's on the menu. Spicy, sweet, fruity, straight up over 1 solid ice cube, doesn't matter. Give me all of the margaritas in NYC please. Actually, make that the world.

Here are 5 of my favorite places to get margarita shwasted around the city:

BOQUERIA: I''ve mentioned plenty of times before that Boqueria is one of my favorite restaurants for tapas food, but did I ever enlighten you to the fact that their spicy margarita is one of the best that I've ever had? No? I haven't? I'm sure I have. Maybe you were just drunk at the time.

HARLEM PUBLIC: Harlem Public is a quaint little pub up on 149th street in Harlem in which I recently found myself at after a girlfriend of mine moved to the are. It was a Tuesday, it was packed, and I knew I was in for a treat. 85% of the people in this place might be wearing plaid and thick rimmed glasses, which clearly screams the words craft cocktail. It's sort of like the unofficial uniform for someone who knows how to mix up a good drink. Honorable mention: scruffy 5 o'clock shadow face. Needless to day, not only is their guac on #fleek, the French Margarita had me feeling all sorts of ways and got me lost on the 1 train at 11PM.

BARRIO CHINO: Oh, Barrio Chino. Perhaps one of the hardest little joints to get a seat, but don't let that discourage you from trying to nab a drink here. Score a seat at the small picnic table to dine amongst other patrons, and order yourself one of their many margarita varieties. I've tried pretty much all of them, and each one has always been better than the last. I suggest you get tequila drunk here very soon.

ANEJO: If you like spicy margaritas, and I mean spicy margaritas, you have to try the jalapeƱo marg at Anejo. Located in Hell's Kitchen, this bar who is just as known for their tequila as they are for their tacos, mixes up one of the spiciest margaritas that I've ever tried. And I've tried a lot.

EL CAMION: While I can go on and on and on about the food here, their margaritas are also some serious winners. The first time I tried this place I ordered a hibiscus margarita, and while it was delicious, I was later informed that their off-menu spicy margarita was where it's at. Spicy, but not too spicy, it's the perfect option for someone who likes a little heat but also likes to feel their tongue after they finish their drink.
