I've decided something. Something groundbreaking. Something so highly requested that I was too lazy to put together up until now. Each month, I'll be sharing my #instaeats, which will be a compilation of places I embarrassingly stuffed my face at for the month. You'll now be able to not only track my bad eating habits, but also discover the places I #luv all around New York City!
So without further adieu, and even though the month isn't quite over yet, here are the top 5 places I ventured to in January, that you just need to know about!
1) Galli Restaurant - SoHo
My friend and I stumbled upon Galli while doing a little "still intoxicated from brunch" shopping in SoHo. I was in dire need of something sweet, and she was in dire need of a chair to sit in after walking around for 5 hours. While we skipped an actual meal (lolz, cake is totally an actual meal for me), we ordered two glasses of wine, followed by one of the most dreamy slices of tiramisu that I have ever had.
2) Roast Kitchen - Financial District
I need to just stop for a moment and get on my knees to thank baby Jesus for introducing me to Roast Kitchen. Actually, it was my friend who introduced me, but whatever. It's sort of like a Chipotle in terms of creating your own bowl, but the options are so endless, you can try out so many different selections and never get bored with the place. Pictured above is a combination of couscous, spicy chicken, broccoli, peppers, and onions. I'm embarrassed to admit how many times I've eaten here this month, so I'm not going to tell you. (9)
3) Shanghai Gourmet - Chinatown
So I've never actually been to Shanghai Gourmet, but it was my hangover meal of choice on New Years Day. Because of this, I can only speak of the take-out that I got, which didn't seize to amaze my (totally empty from boozing too hard) tummy. I got an order of General Tso's Chicken, and an order of a mixed veggie stir fry. Both were gone within 20 minutes and then I laid in bed for the next 4 hours. While I'm no expert on authentic Asian cuisine, I can say that Shanghai Gourmet is hands down some of the best Chinese take-out that I've tried.
4) Harry's Cafe & Steak - Financial District
Saturday is for brunching, and that's exactly what my roommate and I did at Harry's Cafe & Steak. Not only is the place elegant and lovely, their champagne brunch truly hits the spot. Pictured above is the Chicken Pillard, which I devoured like the classy broad that I am.
5) Harry's Italian - Battery Park
If you haven't noticed the trend that is forming here, we brunch a lot. We hit up Harry's Italian (yes, the sameeee Harry) for their bottomless mimosa/carbs in our face brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Pictured above is their egg pizza, which totally confused me in the best sort of way. It's like an omelette on top of a pizza and you're not really sure what is going on besides the fact that you're in food heaven. It's definitely one of the more unique things that I have tried lately, but the foodie lifestyle is all about being adventurous, you know?
