Food and the City: strawberries + champagne slushy cocktail. Yum

July 02, 2013

strawberries + champagne slushy cocktail.

What? Its 4th of July in two days? No. Where did the first half of 2013 GO? Stop it. But look! A cocktail. Lets have a cocktail today. Or on the 4th of july, either one.

This is just a fun, refreshing adult beverage that involves frozen fruity-slush and the very high chance that you'll drink way too many of these since they are just so, so delicious.

Oh, also - you just have to puree and freeze the fruit ahead of time, then have a bunch of bottles of champagne on hand in order for these babies to keep flowing all night long.

I like to think of it as a big girl smoothie. Or at least thats what I tell myself in order to justify having one with breakfast. Kidding.

strawberries + champagne cocktail

enough to use up 1 750 ML bottle of champagne
1/2 10z bag of frozen strawberries
1/4 cup of water
1 750 ML bottle of champagne

In a blender, add your frozen strawberries and water. Puree until almost smooth. Transfer mixture to a bowl, cover with cling wrap, and freeze for about 1 hour.

Scoop out some of the strawberry slushy using an ice cream scooper, and add it to the bottom of your glass. Slowly pour the bubbly on top and enjoy!
